Keith Moon, Count Down, Safe Spaces

The last couple of weeks has given us the opportunity to revive several favorite events that had been sidelined by the pandemic.  The Auxiliary’s lobster luncheon was simply outstanding, giving every member of the Noble community an opportunity to indulge in a mouth-watering lobster with all the fixings.  A few days later, scores of residents, staff and their families gathered for an old-fashioned carnival, which featured Noble administrator, Bill Pond in the dunking booth. Bill spent a great deal of time in the water-please click here to watch-but the weather was hot so the dunks provided cooling relief!

The following week featured a mindfulness and well-being workshop with Suzanne Mazarelli, a fabulous lunch at AJ’s Steak and Pizza and a barbeque lunch prepared by residents and staff using produce from the resident gardens.  Of course, September is moments away and on the first, we are fortunate enough to welcome Lime Rock’s annual Vintage Car Parade to campus!  While a signal of summer’s waning days, it is a very special event we relish every Labor Day weekend.  Enjoy the final days of summer!

Keith Moon Discusses His work with Ukrainian Refugees

Following up on his Vladimir Putin Book Club Series of last spring, Hotchkiss School instructor Keith Moon returns to Noble Horizons on September 24 at 2 pm to discuss a dimension of the Russian invasion of Ukraine not widely covered in the media.

Keith recently returned from Slovakia where he worked with Ukrainian refugees displaced by the Russian/Ukraine conflict. More than five million Ukrainian refugees—almost all women and children, because men between the ages of 18-60 have not been permitted to leave Ukraine—have fled the country and sought protection in neighboring European countries, as well as places like the United States or Canada. Providing a Safe Space

Simply being in the company of Suzanne Mazzarelli is calming; her warm spirit is soothing and serene. “I love providing a safe space for people,” she admits.  Suzanne is the popular teacher of the Therapeutic Movement and Breath class Noble Horizons co-sponsors with the Scoville Library who leads stress reduction workshops on campus-upcoming dates are September 13 and 27 at 1:30 pm.  She is also the owner of Be Well Community Yoga. As her many students attest, Suzanne not only provides a safe space but within it, offers opportunities for connecting and healing as well.  As a yoga therapist, she urges her students to know and be kind to themselves and their bodies, connect with the world around them, and to practice gratitude and personal forgiveness.

Suzanne's journey into the world of yoga and its healing properties began with her own personal need to heal.  Read more.
