Like you, we are counting the days to May 1 and May 19! Since Governor Lamont’s recent decree, it is with palpable relief and even disbelief that we anticipate a return to life as we once knew it (with the addition of masks, of course!). As always, Noble Horizons is working closely with the DPH to ensure a careful navigation through this exciting transition.
Certainly, we have all been dreaming of this news for over a year yet the idea of resuming regular routines seems almost overwhelming! Where to begin, who to see, and how to do it all safely??? We are already making plans to welcome you back for special events, concerts and other enticing programs about which you will hear more in the coming weeks!
Amidst the joy of the new season and the Governor’s good news, the Noble community did suffer a loss this past week which we share with you here. We wish you well and look forward to seeing more of you in the weeks ahead!
Recognizing National Volunteer Week
Though Noble Horizons has not been able to welcome our devoted volunteers to campus for over a year, their impact is felt daily. On the occasion of the 47th annual National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 18-24), we thanked our volunteers with a letter to several northwest corner newspapers, expressing our gratitude and enumerating the many ways in which they enrich life for all who live and work at Noble Horizons.

Yale University's Steven B. Smith, Ph.D. will discuss his new book, Reclaiming Patriotism in an Age of Extremes on May 6 at 7 pm. The book continues to receive excellent reviews, the most recent from the Washington Post, which follows recommendations from The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Most foreign policy experts cite North Korea as one of the country's most significant challenges today. On May 10 at 7 pm, you can learn more about this enigmatic nation with Jonathan Corrado, Director of Policy at The Korea Society. Corrado will discuss the changing nature of North Korea, how its citizens navigate life amidst the world's lowest-ranked economy, extreme isolation, and a repressive central government that is escalating its production of nuclear missiles and weapons of mass destruction. The Heisman Trophy, Gerald Ford and Noble Horizons
If you grew up around football, specifically CT or Yale University football, the name Ducky Pond may be a household name. For Noble Horizons’ Administrator, Bill Pond, it literally is a household name – Ducky Pond was Bill’s great uncle. "Not only did he coach two of the first three winners of the Heisman Trophy... but...Gerald Ford was one of Ducky’s assistant coaches, while also attending Yale as a law student.
