The pictures at the end of this newsletter underscore the popularity of the dog biscuits Noble residents made for the Fall Festival! The dogs LOVED them and local children relished the fun of embellishing them with technicolor icing!
Speaking of technicolor, the colors percolating across the Noble campus are absolutely magnificent! This week's leaf-peeping excursion (with a quick stop at Fudgey's!) offered spectacular vistas and plenty of inspiration for Thursday's art class. Although the warm days are a welcome summer remnant, change is tucked in the crisp autumn air; in fact, the Festival of Trees opens in just over a month!
Please make plans to visit the Salisbury Association's Art of Aging 50th Anniversary Exhibit opening on October 16. You will not only be enchanted but you'll laugh, marvel, encounter old friends and lose yourself in the captivating story of a community that created a village within a village to provide a home for those who had contributed so much during their working years. Fifty years later, that collaboration continues to be a hallmark of Noble living and we look forward to creating the next chapter of Noble's story with you.

At 11:30 pm on November 3, enjoy a free lunch while learning about the 2023 changes to Medicare. Two professionals from the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) will present Preparing for Medicare Open Enrollment.
Because plans are modified every year, Medicare urges recipients to review their plans annually. Your needs may evolve, and a plan's drug costs and coverage can change dramatically. In addition, healthcare providers can opt in or out of a Medicare Advantage plan at any time, so it is important to confirm that your provider is still on your plan. WCAAA, a nonprofit funded by federal, state and local sources, provides unbiased information to seniors. Registration is necessary.
To help you enroll in the plan best suited to your needs, WCAAA counselors will offer private Medicare Part D enrollments sessions from 1:30-4 pm and on November 8 from 9 am-4 pm. Please email cburchfield@churchhomes.orgor call 860-435-9851, ext. 190 for an appointment.

Sages of Aging
On October 1 Age Wave, a national leader in the fields of aging and longevity, and the American Society on Aging released a documentary featuring interviews with a dozen longevity and aging experts. Entitled Sages of Aging, the film distills the wisdom of twelve of the most innovative and impassioned gerontology pioneers who not only forged today's understanding of aging and longevity but whose contributions will shape it for years to come.
Dr. Ken Dychtwald, founder and CEO of Age Wave, spearheaded the project as a way of encouraging people to consider an “ethical” will. As people reach their later years, they often create a “material will,” encompassing the “things”; Dychtwald felt that individuals should be encouraged to capture key lessons to pass on to future generations. Sages of Aging begins that very important process and will change the way you think about aging. Don't miss it.
