Noble Horizons Residents and Staff help to “finish the fight”

On Friday, October 4 residents and staff throughout Noble Horizons came together in support of the more than one million breast cancer survivors living in the US to donate their dollars and sport their favorite pair of jeans in honor of Lee’s National Denim Day. For the past two decades, the century’s old brand name jeans company has held this one-day fundraising event, annually observed on the first friday of October, in order to contribute to the American Cancer Society and support breast cancer research worldwide. Noble Horizons has joined the fight for the fourth year in a row by encouraging staff, in exchange for a donation of $5 (or more), to wear their jeans to work in honor of this fundraising event. For former nurse and current Noble Horizons Staff Education Director Agnieszka Ostrowski who, along with Kelsey Horton collects donations, the one-time dress code change is no small allowance, “As nurses, we have all become so used to having to wear scrubs all the time, so having the opportunity to be able to abandon the dress code for an outstanding cause has been really spectacular.” With locations in supervising, second and third shift, and Ms.Ostrowski herself travelling from house to house to collect donations, the entire Noble Horizons community has become fully engaged in the massive cause. Currently 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. With the help of the committed community of residents and staff, and by working in coalition with companies like Lee for organizations like the American Cancer Society, Noble Horizons has positioned itself firmly on the frontlines in order to finally end the fight against breast cancer.
