Family Thrills and Chills at Noble Horizons

Spooky Family Fun Day hits all the right notes. On Saturday October 26, Noble residents, staff, and their families delighted in the festivities held in the Noble Horizons’ “Haunted” Community Room. The Halloween themed costume party featured every kind of holiday style from spooky ghouls and witches, the royal elegance of princesses -including an appearance from the incomparable Mrs.Doubtfire courtesy of the wickedly talented and Noble Chair Zumba instructor Placido (PJ) Birriel- to the downright heroic, with two versions of Spiderman swinging in with style. Noble staff worked with feverish dedication to transform their community room into a veritable Halloween wonderland, complete with festive decorations, unique and interactive games for family fun, and a wide variety of Halloween treats including a stunning spread of decorated cupcakes, apple turnovers, and even a movie theatre style popcorn machine that turned out to be a sight to behold amidst the revelry. The Monster Mash kicked off with an interactive skit featuring members of the Noble Horizons staff set to the sounds of Noble organist Diedre Broderick that turned out to be as educational as it was just plain fun. With the threads of a biographical account of famed inventor Thomas Edison running throughout the performance, the mysterious narrator asked, “What if Edison really had built his proposed Ghost Machine?”. What followed were appearances by a number of venerated characters seasoned with musical numbers fit for the spectacle (particularly the memorable “The Ghost from Ipanema”), all capstoned by the arrival of the immortal Dracula-Elvis, costumed by administrator Bill Pond, leading the crowd in song and dance. Party organizer and Director of Volunteers at Noble Horizons Lana Knutson relished the opportunity to organize family day with a twist this year, “Historically, we have a family day event usually earlier in the year. It’s a chance for the residents and their families to mingle and spend time with staff and their families, I wanted to do things a little differently this year and Halloween is such a fun holiday and presents us with all kinds of fun things to do.” Clearly, for both Lana and the Noble community, this year’s festivities were a great success, “ PJ’s cupcakes were amazing, the skit with Dierdre Broderick was very entertaining, the kids had lots of fun playing games and everyone loved the haunted golf cart rides!”
