Keith Moon: Volunteering with Ukrainian Refugees

Keith Moon, Hotchkiss School professor and expert on Russia, returns to Noble Horizons, in a follow-up discussion to his Vladmir Putin Book Club Series.

Keith will share his experiences from his trip to Slovakia where he worked with Ukrainian refugees displaced by the Russian/Ukraine conflict. More than five million Ukrainian refugees—almost all women and children, because men between the ages of 18-60 have not been permitted to leave Ukraine—have fled the country and sought protection in neighboring European countries, as well as places like the United States or Canada.

Keith Moon joined The Hotchkiss School faculty in 1989 and holds the E. Carleton Granbery Teaching Chair. A frequent traveler to the Soviet Union and Russia before the pandemic, Moon has taught Russian, English, history, and Spanish as well as an annual Russian course at Noble Horizons for the last decade. He holds a B.A. in Russian language and literature from Dartmouth College and an A.M. in Russian area studies from Harvard University. He is also a board member of Special Olympics CT and serves on the Salisbury Board of Education. Moon’s program will be in person.

  1. Hi Caroline- I don’t think I will be free to attend this event. Is there any chance you will be recording and making it available after the fact? Thanks, as always, Sharon.
