Free Hearing Screenings at Noble Horizons
Free Hearing Screenings
On August 31 at 10 am, Noble Horizons will host hearing specialist Neil Di Stefano for a free program reviewing hearing loss, including the causes and symptoms, updates in treatment, potential complications of age-related hearing loss, and how to best address it.
In a study that tracked 639 adults for nearly 12 years, experts at Johns Hopkins found that mild hearing loss doubled dementia risk. Moderate loss tripled risk, and people with severe hearing impairments were five times more likely to develop dementia. According to Frank Lin, M.D., Ph.D. who led the research, “Brain scans show us that hearing loss may contribute to a faster rate of atrophy in the brain. Hearing loss also contributes to social isolation. You may not want to be with people as much, and when you are you may not engage in conversation as much. These factors may contribute to dementia.”
Neil DiStefano has been a hearing specialist with Miracle Ear for 29 years; appointments for the screenings, which begin at 10:30 am and run every 15 minutes, must be made by August 26. Please call 860-435-9851, ext. 188 to schedule a screening appointment.
Please be clear…If we have a free hearing screening does this obligate us to purchase their hearing aid system? Thanks, Jill
Jill – there is absolutely no obligation! We look forward to seeing you there.
