Vintage Race & Sports Car Parade takes ninth lap around Noble Horizons

Beginning in 2010, residents and staff at Noble Horizons come together each year with eager anticipation for the excitement and fun that comes with Lime Rock’s Vintage Race & Sports Car Parade. As part of the annual Labor Day weekend Historic Festival at Lime Rock Park, now in its 37th year, the parade kicks off the festivities with a 17 mile tour through some of the historic towns that dot the landscape of Litchfield County including the towns of Lime Rock, Lakeville, Salisbury and finally crossing the finish line in the historic town of Falls Village for a free street festival. For the past nine years, the car parade has included Noble Horizons as part of its venerated route, a location that was part of the parade’s original run in 1982. “Every year it’s all hands on deck!” says Lana Knutson, Director of Volunteers at Noble Horizons. This year 75 community members, including between 50 and 60 Noble residents turned out for an idyllic late August afternoon refreshments, cocktails, and of course, some of the most uniquely vintage automobiles in the country parading by to the thrill of residents and family members alike. Ms.Knutson recalls with fondness why the parade is such a meaningful experience for residents and staff, “They were so thrilled to be outside in the gorgeous weather to experience seeing the cars yes, but hearing the engines rev was just as thrilling for everyone.” The parade provides a perfect example for how similar events bring the community to Noble Horizons. A very special experience especially for those residents who may not be able to interact with the surrounding community as much as they would prefer to. Cocktails and cars may have been the feature of the afternoon, but it was seeing the Noble community come together with members of the surrounding area that truly captured the spirit of the entire affair.
