Noble Horizons 2024 Annual Appeal Connection, Community, Compassion
As we embark on another year of service, we invite you to join us in our 2024 Annual Appeal. Your support is vital in helping us create lasting connections, cultivate a vibrant community, and extend our compassion to those in need. Together, let’s continue to build a brighter future for all at Noble Horizons. Our Report of Giving for last year showcases the remarkable difference we can make when we come together as a community.
How You Can HELP
Your gift makes a positive difference every day
Noble Horizons owes its very existence to the foresight and generous spirit of its donors. Over 50-years ago, John H. and Ethel G. Noble established the Noble Charitable Trust to provide a dignified lifestyle for older people “in comfortable and pleasant homelike surroundings”. 20 cottages opened on 64 wooded acres in June, 1972 and in 1973, the Trust also funded the construction of Riga, Noble’s intermediate care residence.
The Whitridge Residence, where Noble’s skilled nursing and memory care are provided, was seeded by Arnold Whitridge’s generosity. Mr. Whitridge later donated funds to erect the beautiful non-denominational St. Luke’s Chapel.
From 1975 through 1983, generous individuals donated an additional 24 cottages, and by 2005 another six were built by donors wishing to enjoy and to leave for others the comforts and security of life at Noble Horizons.
Ongoing generosity has made possible countless amenities such as the dental clinic, gazebo, golf carts, mini buses, transportation vehicles, a wellness clinic, the hair salon, wifi, art, library, outdoor sculpture, countless gardens and so much more. Gifts have allowed us to increase the campus to 110-acres and to offer the facilities and services needed to enjoy comfortable, secure, and fulfilling lives in a beautiful setting and a life-affirming atmosphere.
Your gift will continue this legacy of generosity, upholding Noble’s tradition of 5-Star care as well as its commitment to provide for residents even if their financial resources are exhausted. Residents can feel secure that whatever the future may bring to their health or finances, Noble Horizons will take care of them. Your donation makes this possible.

Donations to the Village Fund are used to improve facilities, initiate programs and purchase equipment not provided for in the operating budget. It supports pet therapy, art, and health, education and other special programs as well as The Robert E. Julien Music Appreciation Fund which brings professional musicians and music educators to Noble for the enjoyment of all members of the Noble community.
The Caroline Wall Supplementary Fund covers one-time or occasional necessary expenses, such as eyeglasses, dental appliances, hearing aids or clothing, for residents with very limited financial resources.
Established by the late Dorothea Elliott in memory of her husband, the fund provides scholarship support to Noble employees or their children who are attending college nursing programs.
The Employee Scholarship Fund is a source of tuition reimbursement for employees pursing college degrees. Read more about this in a letter from Noble Resident Rosemary Farnsworth
The Chaplaincy Fund provides support for religious practices, spiritual care, and special programming to fulfill the needs of all religious denominations. This fund also helps to maintain our beautiful chapel for residents and their families to utilize independently as well as attend weekly scheduled services.

Other Ways to Support Noble Horizons
Leave A Bequest
Many of Noble's friends choose to include Noble Horizons in their wills through bequests of a specific dollar amount or percentage of the estate or gifts of art or personal property, which may offer a tax advantage. These gifts are often made in honor of or in memory of a loved one. The following wording is suggested when including Noble Horizons in one's will: I give, devise, and bequeath to Church Homes, Inc., Congregational for the exclusive benefit of their village, Noble Horizons in Salisbury, Connecticut, (a dollar amount or description of the bequest.)
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
You can give to a charity and to yourself in equal measure. If you are 70 1/2 or older, the IRA Charitable Transfer is an excellent way to make gifts and receive tax benefits in return, even if you take the standard deduction.
Transfers are made directly from a traditional IRA account by your IRA administrator to Noble Horizons.
IRA Charitable Transfers are excluded gross income for federal income tax purposes on your IRS Form 1040. You receive no charitable deduction, and they count towards your required minimum distribution for the year in which you made the gift.
For example, John is 71 and wants to make a gift to Noble Horizons. He has $100,000 in his IRA and he wants the contribution to be $1,000. He can authorize the administrator of his IRA to transfer $1,000 to Noble Horizons. The $1,000 distributed to Noble Horizons will be counted toward his annual minimum required distribution and he will not pay income tax on the portion given to charity.
It’s important to consider your tax situation before deciding whether to make a charitable contribution from your IRA, so be sure to share this gift plan with your financial advisor.
Charitable Gift Annuity
A charitable gift annuity allows the donor to make a gift to Noble Horizons while retaining a guaranteed lifetime income. Charitable gift annuities pay a competitive rate of return each quarter and allow the donor to take an income tax deduction for part of the gift in the year the gift is made.
Stocks & Securities
Life Insurance
Making Noble Horizons the owner or beneficiary of a life insurance policy that is no longer needed is the simplest way to make a gift. Your insurance company or agent can arrange this for you.
Those who remember Noble Horizons in their will, create a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust to benefit Noble Horizons, or who make a gift of insurance become members of the Heritage Society.
