The Con Artist Playbook

Noble Horizons and Salisbury Bank will co-host the AARP CT Fraud Watch Network for, “The Con Artist Playbook,” an interactive conversation that focuses on the psychology behind consumer fraud crimes and ways to fend off the scammer.  

Every day, millions of Americans lose their hard-earned money to identity theft, investment fraud and other types of scams. In this program you will look inside the mind of a criminal, learn tactics to protect you and your loved ones and who to contact in CT if you are a victim.  

Erica Michalowski, AARP’s Connecticut associate director for community outreach, will be joined by Detective Mark Solomon, Chapter President for the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators. Detective Solomon has also been assigned to the CT Financial Crimes Task Force, a federal task force run by the U.S. Secret Service that focuses on large scale financial and cyber-criminal activities.

All in the Family Art Exhibit Opening Reception

On October 13, from 5-7 pm, the gallery at Noble Horizons will host an opening for “All in the Family: The Creative Muse of Seven Artistic Families.” The exhibit showcases the tradition of artistry spanning the generations of seven local families in the northwest corner.


The exhibit will feature work by three generations of the Blagden family: Tom, Sr., Allen, Irene, Tom, Jr. and Zelina; Annie Harris and her daughter, Eliza; Charlie, Karin and son, Merrick Noyes; Tina and Robin Chandler and Robin’s grandmother; Virginia Vincent Sperry and her mother, Virginia Vincent; Sara Nesbitt, her mother and grandmother; and siblings Karin and Peter Felske. The exhibit includes jewelry, painting, sculpture, embroidery, decorative wares and photography and is available for viewing weekends 11 am-4 pm through November 12.

Solo Classical Piano Recital by Donald Alfano

Noble Horizons will host pianist and author Donald Alfano, PhD., on October 20 at 2pm. He will present a solo classical piano recital interspersed with a brief commentary to further understanding and appreciation. The varied program will include works by Scarlatti, Bach, Haydn, Chopin, and selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.

The Enigmatic Bobcat of CT

Noble Horizons will host conservationist Paul Colburn who will present, "The Bobcat: Connecticut's Secretive Wild Cat.”  The free program will focus on the natural history of Connecticut bobcats, an overview of their habitat, diet, behavior, reproduction and current research efforts. Bobcat artifacts will be shared with the audience.

Classics From the American Songbook

Noble Horizons will host Broadway performers Jean and Bill McClelland who will perform "At Long Last Love: Classics from the American Songbook," a concert of American popular songs from Broadway and the golden era of song. Jean and Bill bring to life the great songs of Jerome Kern, the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim and others. The duet has been praised by The New York Times for its "easy, swinging vitality," and Jean's voice was described as "absolutely stunning" by The Poughkeepsie Journal.
