Five Smart Ways You Can Beat Disease

Balance and Fall Prevention Class
When Frank Lalli was diagnosed with a deadly blood cancer, multiple myeloma, he immediately focused his reporting skills honed while running Forbes, Money and George magazines to learn all he could about health care to stay alive. Over the past 11 years living with the cancer, he has become The Health Care Detective, wrote Your Best Health Care Now, and is now the health correspondent for NPR’s Robin Hood Radio. Lalli has navigated America’s daunting health insurance system, first at Time Inc. and now with Medicare. He found an experimental daily pill that kept his cancer in check for six years. Had an unsuccessful stem cell transplant when his condition worsened, but then got into a cutting-edge clinical trial that saved his life. He has been in complete remission for more than two years. Drawing on his many experiences, Lalli has come up with the five smart strategies to beat disease, beginning with how to find the right doctors, form working partnerships with them, negotiate a discount for services when you need it, get in to see world-renowned specialists, avoid surprise hospital bills – and much more. Lalli and his wife Carole live in Lakeville. Please join us by Zooming in to Lalli’s talk on Saturday, June 14th, at 11 am.  Registration is below.
