On Saturday, October 27 at 2 pm, Noble Horizons will host Douglas Crane, who will present the remarkable story of Crane & Company, the US Treasury’s sole paper supplier since engraver Paul Revere made a precursor to the dollar using paper produced by his compatriot Thomas Crane during the American Revolution.   Mr. Crane will discuss the company’s 200+-year history with the US Treasury, the evolution of the currency product, the intricate security innovations needed to outsmart counterfeiters and the development of the new $100 bill, one of the most sophisticated uses of security technologies today.

Mr. Crane led Crane & Company into the international currency market and helped it secure entry into 50 countries.  He managed the company’s relationships with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the US Secret Service and the Federal Reserve Board and oversaw its legislative activities as well. He holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University, an MS in Paper Chemistry from the Institute of Paper Science and Technology, and an MBA from the Sloan School at MIT.

Registration for the free program is below or by calling 860-435-9851. Noble Horizons is a non-for-profit retirement community located on 110 acres at 17 Cobble Road in Salisbury, CT.
