Employee Recognition 2016

Noble Horizons staff members were guests at the annual employee recognition event, this year held outdoors beside the ponds on a beautiful afternoon in September. Big Green Truck Pizza from New Haven, featuring wood-fired pizzas made fresh on-site, was a first for Noble. Thin crust pizzas of all sorts, tossed salad, soft drinks, espresso and gelato were on the menu and, by all accounts, more than a few employees ate themselves silly. A raffle and years-of-service jewelry and gifts were part of the festivities.

Throughout their 65-year journey together, Dr. John Gallup, affectionately known as Bill to locals in the community, and his wife Jean have lived in locales throughout the world, raised a family, traveled and given tirelessly to their local communities. “We still share the same core values after all these years,” says Jean, who raised the couple's children while her husband was the community's revered-and very busy- pediatrician.

Guests of acclaimed baker and cookbook author, Jessie Sheehan enjoyed tips and treats on Saturday, February 1 when Noble Horizons hosted Jessie for a live baking demonstration.

“When we talk about memory, and the ways in which we wish to keep our overall memory strong, we are talking about brain health,” says Jennifer Labrie, Resource Coordinator for Hartford Healthcare’s Center for Healthy Aging at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT.

“I knew I liked Noble as soon as I arrived,” reflected Martina Sprague, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and now, thanks to Noble’s tuition assistance program, also a certified nurse. “It's a different feeling here. This place feels like a home to everyone who lives and works here. I think of it as the Taj Mahal of long-term care.”
