A Summer Night

The balmy evening of July 12 was ideal for a pondside musicale, featuring popular performers Michael Berkeley on electric keyboard accompanying songstress Maria Hickey. The talented pair put their all into a fast-paced and wide ranging medley of Broadway show tunes and standards for an appreciative audience of 100, mostly residents from nearby towns. 

Noble Horizons is, at every time of the year, a magnet for persons of all ages. The audience members at this event included a centenarian and a baby boy, along with his two older brothers. His parents, relatively new to the area, thought a musical evening at Noble the perfect way for their young family to enjoy a summer evening.

Throughout their 65-year journey together, Dr. John Gallup, affectionately known as Bill to locals in the community, and his wife Jean have lived in locales throughout the world, raised a family, traveled and given tirelessly to their local communities. “We still share the same core values after all these years,” says Jean, who raised the couple's children while her husband was the community's revered-and very busy- pediatrician.

Guests of acclaimed baker and cookbook author, Jessie Sheehan enjoyed tips and treats on Saturday, February 1 when Noble Horizons hosted Jessie for a live baking demonstration.

“When we talk about memory, and the ways in which we wish to keep our overall memory strong, we are talking about brain health,” says Jennifer Labrie, Resource Coordinator for Hartford Healthcare’s Center for Healthy Aging at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT.
